I love this park. The cabins sleep six and they're less than $200/night. The are literally on the lake and are a perfect place to catch some amazing sunsets. We hike here, and the trails are nice. The walking isn't strenuous, so it's a good place to come with elderly family members or children. We've had some great nature sightings here: deer, owls, bald eagles, armadillos, jelly fish... There's just so much to see here. Totally worth $3/person for a days admission.
Small place but beautifully maintained. My dog loves it here. I wish the board walk was repaired but alas no. Its really peaceful in the morning.
I had never been here before but we set up in one of the "unimproved" sites and it was perfect. No electricity in those sites but it does come with a grill and a fire pit. There's also some fantastic playgrounds and a really nice beach with very soft sand.
It was our first time here and it was only for a day trip, but it seems like a nice park. The beach is fairly clean, but it's small and could get crowded easily. The playground has new equipment and the kids really enjoyed playing on it. The facilities could use some maintenance, but they are functional. The cabins on trhe lake appeared to be new, but like the other state parks in LA, I think they are overpriced. Definitely worth making a trip out to if you're looking for a quiet place to relax and let the kids run and play.
Spiders the size of your face out here along the trails. Beautiful, but be careful not to wander into one of them, since their webs are right on the path! The first time we went, we forgot bug spray and only lasted a couple hundred feet into the woods, before we took off running back to the car, bird-sized mosquitoes in tow. Next time, we hosed ourselves down with off, and brought our biggest dog, and enjoyed a nice hike out into the wherevers. Highly recommend coming out here with your dog for a walk through the woods, or maybe a going for a nice bike ride on the little paved path. Personally, we're looking forward to renting one of the cabins in the future. We've only driven by them, but they look super cool.
