I go mostly for sale items as regular proceed items are a bit over priced. Wal-Mart beats them on everything, pretty much.
Since I moved to the area last year, I shop here daily. I love the local produce and fresh meat. The fresh bakery cakes and cupcakes are addictive. During king cake season, you'd be hard pressed to find a better king cake around. The stores prices are a little higher than the average grocery store but you can easily shop the specials and save money. The team is friendly and genuinely seem to enjoy working at Rouses.
It is easy to get in and out fast . I love the flow of the store it is so easy to see everything. I don't gave to search for things like at other groceries stores . Which makes shopping a breezy there
I have returned bad seafood to them at least 6 times now. For Rouses to consider themselves the leader in New Orleans seafood is a joke. Gumbo crabs are horrible. They are inedible. I have ruined a gumbo by dumping them in unknowingly. The softshell crabs are a complete waste. They are so fishy tasting and there is nothing in taste that resembles a soft shell crab. And don't purchase anything that has a red sticker stating "Special Today". It is usually spoiled. I can't believe what this place tried to sell as ruined discount. They should be ashamed.
Went in for a salad at their salad bar and they did not have much for options. Most of the real estate was take up by the soups, salad dressings, or other products not having to do with making a salad. Their hot bar had even less of a selection which I was thinking of closing instead. If you want a good salad bar and hot foods, go to the Whole Foods down the block.
I came in for their salad bar, but it was very small with a few choices besides a few of the basics of a salad. They did have 4 soup options which was nice. Their hot bar was very small too, so not many options to select from. Other then that, the grocery shopping there is always nice and the staff are always friendly and helpful.
