I just completed a series of painting lessons with Elizabeth Impastato and truly enjoyed the experience! Elizabeth graciously taught me everything from how to layout my painting and blend the paints to achieve the colors I wanted, as well as numerous techniques and tools for getting the desired look and feel for my painting. Not only is she extremely patient and attentive, she is a pleasure to be around! Elizabeth's passion for art and her desire to ensure a rewarding experience for her students are a winning combination! I highly recommend her as an instructor!
This place is perfect for a party and perfect to get in touch with your creative side. I love that Impastato Gallery has it all....classes, private lessons, can host special events, lectures, and of course gallery with great works from several local artists! There is something there for everyone. The space is so inviting that I find it hard for me to leave once I drop in. Check it out for yourself and enjoy!

WOW! If you are looking for a way to bring a piece of NOLA back with you that is both artsy and personal, go with Elizabeth at Impastato. We did a couples paint session -- complete with goodies and champagne -- and flew back to Pennsylvania with two unique canvases of NOLA. I did a shot-gun house and my man did a trolley. Elizabeth guides you and leans back. She does not do the work for you, but allows you to explore your creative side. As a teacher myself, I know the importance of being a "guide on the side" and not the "sage on the stage." Do not hesitate to book a session at this studio. It is a calming moment in the middle of your travel and you walk away with a priceless piece of artwork!! (she is about 40 minutes outside of New Orleans across Lake Pontchartrain). Worth the drive!!
